        NOTICE OF
PUBLIC HEARING

Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 11:15 AM in the Rich County Courthouse, 20 S. Main Street in Randolph.  The Rich County Board of Commissioners is considering amending its Transient Room Tax Ordinance (no. 21-001).  A copy of this proposed ordinance can be obtained by contacting the Rich County Clerk, Anneliesa Peart at (435) 793-2415.

State law allows counties to impose a transient room tax on short term rentals of tourist homes, hotel rooms, motel rooms, trailer court accommodations and or any other lodging regularly rented for less than 30 consecutive days.  This money is used by the County to fund operations listed in Utah Code � 17-31-2(3).  Rich County has historically set the transient room tax at 4.25%.  H.B. 456 (2025) now allows counties of the sixth class, which includes Rich County, to raise this rate to 4.5%.  The County is considering raising this rate to 4.5%.

The Board of Commissioners is soliciting the public's comments on the proposed ordinance.  Those attending the hearing will be invited to provide their input.  Those wishing to comment, but who are unable to attend the hearing may also submit written comments to the Rich County Clerk prior to the hearing.
